Dolly-Parton

Born on Jan. 19th, 1946, in Locust Ridge Tenn into a low-income family which would later comprise 12 kids Dolly Parton learned early to escape the hardships of life by using her expansive and vivid imagination. Songs were being written by her before she had the ability to read or write. Within 8 years she was playing her first guitar. As a teenager, she began to sing on the radio station of Knoxville Tenn. In the same year, she recorded her first recording on Gold Band Records a tiny independent label. While still in highschool, she was able to make her mark locally but longed to be on a bigger stage. The day after she graduated in 1964 she relocated to Nashville. Dumb Blonde, Something Fishy and Dumb Blonde both charted on Monument Records in 1967. Porter Wagoner, a syndicated presenter on television at the time was searching for a girl to sing for his show. Parton agreed to the position and in the year 1967, she signed with RCA Records in 1968 and became a member of in the Grand Ole Opry in 1969. She left the show after 1974 because her solo albums like Joshua Coat of Many Colors and Jolene began charting the collaborations they had with each other. Following their break-up, Parton wrote the song I Will Always Love You for Wagoner and it went to No. #1 for the first time in 1974.
